Farmers recognize the importance of crop insurance as a means of protecting their revenue against a crop loss, and Meyocks recognized that it held benefits for non-farmers, too. At a time when pending legislation and public opinion were questioning the value of crop insurance, Meyocks worked with Farm Credit Services of America to commission an independent economic impact study that could define the job preservation and economic activity (in rural communities as well urban markets) resulting from crop insurance loss reimbursements. The report was referenced extensively by the farm press and ag legislators in defining the value of this important risk management tool
